Meet Prometheus Wade: Where Faith Meets Freestyle

Peniel Cromwell—aka Prometheus Wade—isn’t your traditional pastor. He brings healing through bars, truth through testimony, and love to the margins. From city streets to Kenyan refugee camps, his mission is clear: empower the unheard. He has been involved with a number of organizations locally over the years and is now called for global impact.

Columbus to Kenya: A Marginal Ministry

The Call01
Growing up in Columbus, Peniel discovered both faith and freestyle early in life. With a heart drawn to the streets, he saw how deeply music could reach people others had written off. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor...” — Luke 4:18
Freestyle as Therapy02
With every session inside the juvenile facility, it became clear the Lord was using freestyle not just as an art form, but as a healing tool—giving incarcerated youth a voice to process trauma, build confidence, and release what words alone couldn't express. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3
Youth for Christ Years03
With each passing week serving with Youth for Christ, Peniel saw how God was using rap and presence to break down walls—meeting teens where they were, emotionally and spiritually, and opening doors for authentic connection and transformation. Also involved in the following: “I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.” — 1 Corinthians 9:22
Global Impact Begins04
With doors opening across counties and correctional systems, Peniel began to sense the Lord expanding the vision—not just to reach local youth, but to build bridges of healing, identity, and redemption through rhythm and story in places few were willing to go. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations...” — Matthew 28:19

Mr P. I just talked for a whole period to a girl that showed up for the first time. The way she talked about the influence you had on her life in the JIC quite literally brought tears to my eyes!
